Music Marketing

 

When selecting a genre, my group got the genre rock. We picked the song Many Shades of Black by The Raconteurs. We struggle immensely in the beginning, with none of us being fans of rock ourselves, we had to do a lot of research in order to understand the genre and what went into making a good rock persona and career. We chose to do a storytelling music video which posed its own challenges, this included creating an interesting but plausible story that we could actually bring to life in the duration of time we had. 

We were able to overcome these challenges through trial and error. We have created many different storylines and continued to improve upon them to ensure that we created the best story that we could actually film the resources that we had access to. We began by working out that our artist would not be in the music video, but instead it would be centered around two characters. We wanted to ensure that our shots related to the song perfectly. 

We went on to plan the background of our artist's career so we could ensure that the personality and merchandise matches with the feel of the music video and the song itself. We created clothing and physical distribution methods as well as accounts on streaming services to demonstrate how a listener would be able to access our artist's music easily and efficiently.
